One more on Tookie
It would upset me that he never apologized or expressed remorse for the murder, if he hadn't held consistently for the past 24 years that he's innocent. It seems that that as well might be a reason to consider granting clemency, not to mention that his attorneys claimed that witnesses had turned up whose testimony could exonerate him. But we must also remember that he founded a gang that is responsible for so many more deaths...
And it does absolutely nothing for me that Sean Penn was there...
The prison techs couldn't find a vein? Sheesh...
And what about all those people getting so angry? Calling eachother names and things like that...Not to mention the whole range of other emotions shown, much of which I feel were not very genuine. People don't even know the guy, but the weep uncontrollably? It's a sad fact, but people are executed all the time. Remember, we just got to the 1000 mark since the Supreme Court declared execution constitutional in the '70's. I think that alot of these people, as with people that fight for so many other causes, just want to be part of something. The want to feel like they're making a difference (even if they're not), and maybe get a little bit of attention doing it.
(It also doesn't help in my view that people were doing marijuana and drinking.)
